The original is now part of the collection at the National Museum (Nationalmuseet) in Copenhagen. The axe was discovered in a male burial, likely that of a Viking chieftain or a very wealthy Viking. This axe is decorated in the Mammen style a Viking art style that actually takes its name from this very axe! On the original, the engravings were inlaid with silver. This
